NORTH OF SCOTLAND REFEREES ASSOCIATION Referee Profile - Jason Hasson
Date of Birth - 26/11/1977
Height - 6ft
Weight - 14st
Profession - Leisure centre assistant Manager
What made you become a referee?
Thought that I was better at football than I was and wanted to still be involved in the running of it.
Highlights so far?
Too many to mention.
What do you enjoy about refereeing?
The buzz you get from it, the banter, getting to meet new people and also the connection as a group that you have with all your referee colleagues throughout the country.
What was your first game?
Inverness Amateur Smithton hotel v Ardersier 1993.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of becoming a referee?
Go for it. You will achieve more than you think if you want it. Nowadays the chance is there to progress to the top if you show the ability.
What was your most memorable game so far?
Linesman Aberdeen v Rangers SPL Reserve 2003 When Rangers had 6 first team players in the team and won the league that day.
Referees get a negative press, why do you do it?
Other people I feel do not understand the draw to Refereeing and can be a bit naïve towards the fact that referee's are only human and believe it or not can make the occasional mistake but if you read everything in the press and believe it, well!! need I say any more?
What are your referee ambitions/targets?
As I am now category 2 I hope to make it to category 1 with the help of my association manager, family, colleagues and most importantly commitment from myself.
What are your other hobbies & pastimes?
No time for other interests as I am too busy with refereeing, work and Family commitments.
